The surface water (including surface water of rivers, canals, fields, coastal waters) of Ca Mau province is mainly rainwater and water from the sea coming along the tributaries. Surface water source is fresh water, mainly concentrated in U Minh Ha cajuput forest, agricultural production area in the north of Tran Van Thoi and Thoi Binh district. This is a source of rain water kept in place, so it is suitable for the development of animal husbandry, cultivation and raising of natural freshwater fish.

Groundwater (underground water) of Ca Mau province has very large reserves and is easy to exploit. According to the evaluation results, groundwater reserves in the whole Ca Mau province are about 5,8.106 cubic m/day. In particular, water can be used for living up to the 2nd floor about 5,2 million cubic m/day. This is the main water source for industrial production and people’s daily life.

Mineral water: The survey results show that Ca Mau province has 3 sources of mineral water. Include:
– Mineral water source in Thoi Binh town, Thoi Binh district: Belonging to the hole S147, located near the junction of the river, constructed by Doan 804 in 1996. The mineral water source was discovered in a borehole 258m deep, with a flow of 23 liters/sec. . The analysis results show that Thoi Binh mineral water has the chemical composition of sodium bicarbonate, low mineralization and is classified as warm, silicon mineral water. Currently, this source of mineral water is exploited and supplied for domestic use.
– Ca Mau mineral water source: belongs to hole 215, constructed by Doan 802, of the Geological and Hydrological Federation in 1996, located in the former headquarters of the Ca Mau Police Department of Fire Prevention and Fighting (Ca Mau Province) ward 2, Cà Mau city). Water appears in the borehole 328m deep. The results of the analysis show that this is a sodium bicarbonate mineral water, low mineralized above and lower segments, classified as warm water above and warm mineralized water below.
– Nam Can mineral water source: Belong to hole S141, near the headquarters of Nam Can district People’s Committee (in Nam Can town). The water source was discovered at the depth of 257m, the flow is 11 liters/sec, the lower water level is 21,89m. The analytical results show that this is bicarbonate mineral water – chloride – sodium sulfate, medium mineralized, classified as warm mineralized water. Currently, this source of mineral water is exploited and supplied for domestic use.
